About Us
Canberra Lakes Pony Club is an established local Pony Club having been founded in 1963. Our club grounds are centrally located at Equestrian Park, Yarralumla, and originally held the cook house and accommodation buildings for the heritage-listed Yarralumla Woolshed, built in 1902.

Canberra Lakes belongs to the NSW Pony Club Association’s (PCANSW) Zone 16, which is comprised of 14 pony clubs in the ACT region.
Pony club activities are run in accordance with the Constitution, bylaws, and other rules of PCANSW.
We host a rally day on the second Sunday of each month, weather permitting. Our rally days usually consist of three riding sessions coached by qualified instructors and troop leaders. Canberra Lakes is fortunate enough to have access to the Equestrian Park grounds for many of our rally days which supports the Club's strong eventing focus, but we also offer a wide range of activities including mounted games, showjumping, dressage, cross country/eventing, musical riding, cattle work, polocrosse, and much more.

Throughout the history of the club, we have had a strong and active membership base in the Pony Club competition space, with many of our riders representing the club in State and National competitions.

We value and support all of our members in their horsemanship and horse riding journeys.
​
Riding pony club membership is open to all riders aged under 25 years.

The aims and objectives of Pony Club are as follows:

to encourage young people to ride and learn to enjoy all kinds of sports connected with horses and riding

to provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instill in members proper animal care

to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship, and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline
